Obituary: Richard C. Lovitz, 86, of Lower Saucon

Richard C. Lovitz, 86, of Lower Saucon Township, died Nov. 13, 2012.

RICHARD C. LOVITZ, 86, of Lower Saucon Township died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Phyllis J. (Stempkowski) Lovitz. He was born in Allentown on Aug. 22, 1926 to the late Charles and Rose (Sutrich) Lovitz. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Richard worked at Mack Trucks, Allentown and Macungie as a welder until retiring in 1988. He was a member of the , where he was past president and current officer of the St. Theresa's Holy Name Society. For 74 years, he was dedicated to the Boy Scouts and was a Boy Scout Unit Commission member and held various positions. He was a recipient of Silver Beaver Award, George Meany Award (serving Youth by the Lehigh County Labor Council) and the UAW Hall of Fame.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 56 years; children: Glenn and his wife Nancy of The Woodlands, Texas, Gery and his wife Lisa of Santa Maria, Calif., Bret and his wife Dawn of Washington Township; sister: Joan and her husband Louis Mahr of Whitehall; grandchildren: Tom, Adam, Eric, Lauren, Lindsay, Ryan, Paige Lovitz, Nichole and Travis Nelmes.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10am Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown Memorial Garden. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
