Obituary: Police Lieutenant Christopher N. Cambiotti, 42

Police Lieutenant Christopher N. Cambiotti, 42, of Slidell, La., died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.

Police Lieutenant Christopher N. Cambiotti, 42, of Slidell, La., died on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 in Hattiesburg, Miss. as a result of a car accident.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of Henry Sr. and Carmen (DeLeon) Cambiotti of Lower Saucon Township. He was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and Moravian College.

Chris joined the New Orleans Police Department in 1997. During his time with the department, he served the people of New Orleans by working in the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth districts. He also worked briefly in the department’s Special Operations Division. Finally, during the last five years of his career, Chris served as the Second in Command to the First District Commander.

Lieutenant Cambiotti graduated from the FBI National Academy in December 2010 and is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. 

Survivors: Parents; a brother, Henry “Hank” Cambiotti Jr. and his wife Karen of Stroudsburg; a nephew and godson, Nicholas Cambiotti of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and the one who Chris loved, his best friend and soul mate, Maggie Darling; his Italian greyhound, Primo; and many aunts, uncles,and cousins.

Services: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 29 at 10am. Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30am on Monday at Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1418 Main St., Hellertown.
