Obituary: Helen D. Derr, 101, of Bethlehem

Helen D. Derr, 101, formerly of Washington Avenue, Bethlehem, died Friday, June 22, 2012 at Blough Healthcare Center, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Harold E. Derr. She was born in Bethlehem on Aug. 28, 1910 to the late William and Stephanie (Pisczatoski) Modzeleski. She was a mother and homemaker the majority of her life. Before her marriage, she was a stenographer for 9 years at Bethlehem Steel Corp. She was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Survivors:

In addition to her loving husband of 76 years; daughters: JoAnne M. Wert of Hellertown, Marie C. wife of R. Alan Lauer of Livermore, Calif., Carole J. Smolinski of Reisterstown, Md.; 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter: Jeanne F. Kuschak (who died Jan. 2, 1987); and sisters: Agnes D. Jamiolkowski and Jean E. Vasko.
