Obituary: Carl L. Werley, 84, of Bethlehem

Carl L. Werley, 84, of Bethlehem, died April 16, 2012 at Blough Health Care Center, Bethlehem.

Carl L. Werley, 84, of Bethlehem, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Blough Health Care Center, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Helen H. (Horvath) Werley. He was born in Bethlehem on July 19, 1927 to the late Jennie P. (Heintzelman) and Blaine E. Werley. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of Liberty High School and Bethlehem Business College, and attended Progressive School of Photography. Carl worked at the former Hellertown Manufacturing Co. for 30 years as a comptroller and general manager until retiring in 1983. Carl was a member of St. John's Windish Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem; the Hellertown Lions Club; the Northside Volunteer (Reliance) Fire Company and the Mora Club, both of Bethlehem; F & AM Lodge No. 283, Bethlehem; and the Scottish Rite, of Allentown (32nd Degree).

Survivors:

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years; son: The Rev. Jimmy Lee Werley and his wife Melanie E. Becker Werley of Mertztown; brothers-in-law: William Horvath of Bethlehem and Joseph Horvath of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; grandchildren: Benjamin Joseph Werley and his wife Vicki of Shillington, and Jarett Robert Werley of Walnutport; step-grandchildren: Christopher Billig of Austin, Tex., Joy Billig and her husband Jason Smith; great-grandchilden: Jack Werley, Cooper Werley, Emma Smith and Addison Smith. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Blaine C., and siblings Raymond and Arline.

Service:

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30pm Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the , 326 Main St., Hellertown, and from 10 to 11am Thursday at the church. The service will be at 11am Thursday at his church, 617 E. 4th St., Bethlehem. The interment will conclude services with military honors at Bethlehem Memorial Park. The Rev. Dr. Gary J.
