Mildred M. 'Millie' Smoyer, 92, Was a Devoted Homemaker [Obituary]

Mildred M. "Millie" Smoyer, 92, of Hellertown, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Walter A. Smoyer Jr., who died July 23, 1997. She was born in Bethlehem on Dec. 11, 1920 to the late Joseph and Marguerite "Dorothy" (Outerbridge) and Joseph E. Hartzell. After graduating from Liberty High School in 1939, Millie attended business school before she married Walter on June 7, 1942. They raised their family in the Mountainview area of Hellertown. Millie had been a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hellertown for more than 60 years. She received great joy from her family and always looked forward to family gatherings and events. Above all, Millie was a devoted homemaker and was greatly loved by her family and many friends.

SURVIVORS

Children: Thomas A. (Carol L.) of Vero Beach, Fla., William F. (Aquilla) of New Orleans, La.; grandchildren: Jennifer Smoyer of New Orleans, La., Laura (Flok) King of Souderton, Steven Flok of Bethlehem; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Gebler of Pensacola, Fla.; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings: Helen Paulus, Earl J. Hartzell, Raymond R. Hartzell and a sister-in-law: Marguerite Doddy.

SERVICE

The service will be private at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
