James H. Martin, 82, of Hellertown died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Eleanor S. (Boehm) Martin. James was born in Bethlehem on Sept. 1, 1931 to the late Henry A. and Bertha F. (Mirth) Martin. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of James H. Martin Mason Contractor for many years until retirement. He attended Ebenezer New Reformed Church, Bingen, Lower Saucon Township, and was a member of the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. Jim enjoyed retirement, spending countless hours with his putz and train sets. He was also an avid fisherman.
In addition to his loving wife of 54 years; children: Paul H. (Dori A.) Arnold of Hellertown, Kathleen A. (Craig M) Stoudt of Bethlehem, Donna L. Chiles of Hellertown, Stephanie D. (Wayne A.) Cawley of Hellertown; sister: Dolores Kerecz of Bethlehem; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two siblings: John G. and Dorothy Fragano.
Family and friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 1 p.m. The service will conclude with military honors. The Rev. Keith F. Easley will officiate.
