Frost Advisory Issued for Saucon Valley

The National Weather Service is advising residents of Northampton County to cover sensitive plants and vegetation, due to the potential for a frost early Wednesday.

It's still technically summer (for a few more days), but Saucon Valley residents could awake Wednesday to find white outside their windows, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a frost advisory for all of Northampton County—including Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township—on Tuesday afternoon.

The advisory will be in effect from 2 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, when temperatures could dip into the low to mid-30s, according to the statement issued by the weather service.

Sensitive plants and vegetation could be damaged or killed by frost if they aren't covered or brought inside, the NWS warned.

The temperature on Wednesday is forecast to rebound to a high of 66 degrees in the Hellertown area, and highs are predicted to be in the low to mid-70s Thursday through Sunday.

The average high at this time of year in the Saucon Valley area is 75 degrees, while the normal low is 53 degrees.
