The competition is open to anyone. The divisions for 2011 will be Child (Age 12 and under), Adult (Age 13 and up) and Group (Scouts, School Class, Family, etc. There is an entry fee of $10 for each entry. The prizes for each division will be: First Place, Second Place, Third Place. All proceeds from this contest will be donated to the American Cancer Society via Saucon Valley Relay for Life.

Judging will be done by a panel of 3 to 5 judges who will have no personal connection to any of the entrants. Entries must be made primarily of gingerbread and will be judged for Originality, Overall Appearance, Choice and Use of Materials and Difficulty of Design.

Any architectural structure (real or imaginary) is eligible for entry (i.e. house, train station, bridge, ship, lighthouse, spaceship, barn, birdhouse, etc.). Each entry must be original and made in 2011. Gingerbread kits may only be used in Child Division entries. Each entry must have its major components (such as walls and roofs) constructed of gingerbread. The majority of each display except for the base must be made of edible materials. Entries may be constructed using candy and other edible materials. “Edible” materials include candies, nuts, cereal, cookies, crackers, pasta and any other food item that does not include a wrapper, stick or other non-edible material. You may add electric lighting to your entry, but must notify us in advance of a need for electricity on the entry form (see attached).

The entire display must be mounted on a ½” or ¾” plywood or solid base no larger than 24” X 24”. No decorations (icing or others) may be on the sides of the base. Entries must be delivered in completed form attached to a base enabling it to be freestanding. Entries may not be taller than 26" high. Bases must be completely concealed. Entrant’s name and phone number should be affixed to the underside of the plywood base. No identification will be in view of judges or public. We will assign numbers for judging after receiving each entry form.

To enter, complete the entry form and return it and the entry fee to the SVES office by November 23,2010 by mail, fax (610-838-7473), e-mail (scanned with signature) or hand delivery.

All structures must arrive at SVES on Friday December, 2, 2011  between 3:30 and 4:45 and delivered to the cafeteria.  Entries must remain on display throughout the evening for the silent auction and judging.   We reserve the right to exclude entries deemed inappropriate or those that deteriorate. We reserve the right to photograph entries for promotional purposes. Auction winners should be prepared to take their structure that evening or make arrangements to pick it up no later than the following day.  Structures receiving no bids will be displayed at SVSD or in community service organizations.
