'Tire Failure' May Have Preceded Accident, Police Say

Pennsylvania State Police released information about an accident that occurred on I-78 in Lower Saucon Township.

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast say a possible "tire failure" preceded an accident that occurred at mile marker 69.2 on I-78 East in Lower Saucon Township.

In a news release, police said the accident occurred at about 7:42 a.m. June 15, when a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old Fogelsville man veered from the left lane into the right lane, rear-ending a car driven by a 47-year-old Hummelstown man.

There were no injuries reported, but the Fogelsville man's vehicle had to be towed from the scene, police said.
