Working Out at Home Has Its Advantages

A home-based fitness regimen can save you both money and time.

I got home from a meeting in Fort Washington one day recently, hopped downstairs, and completed a Chalean X lean circuit workout. I came upstairs, had dinner, put on my sweats and went for a walk to look at with my family. As we walked, my wife and I talked about how nice it is to have the resources necessary to work out at home. Call us extravagant, but we have a DVD player and an assortment of workout programs with multiple options to choose from.

After getting home from whatever activity you've participated in--work related or not--why would or should it be necessary to venture out to produce results that are attainable in one's own environment? You can avoid the hassle of going to a crowded gym, just like many shoppers avoid the hassle of going to a crowded mall at this time of year, by doing some of their Christmas shopping online. Plus, when you factor in the money saved on memberships, gas, class fees and personal trainer fees, working out at home can be very economical. Why would I want to subject myself to spending money and time I may not have?

Don't get me wrong--there is no free lunch. Everything costs money and there is the necessity of having self motivation to produce the results desired. But as it has been proven, the most fit people eat breakfast, work out at home, and log their progress. It seems to me that these tasks--like breakfast--are tackled with the least amount of obstacles in one's home.
