The top 5 excuses people have for not starting a blog

You may have heard that the easiest (and best) way to do content marketing (website promotion) is via a blog. That is totally true. However, there are several excuses that people come up with to talk themselves out of starting a blog. Here are the top 5:

  1. I don't know how to write. What a travesty. Guess what, if you can read this, then you can learn how to write well enough to start a blog. Look, you're not trying to be the next Hemingway or King. Right? You just want to help people find what you have on the web. Writing can be learned. Here is a free tool from a university (that I've used) to help you.
  2. I don't have the time. What a joke this one is. Yeah, I get it. There are only 24 hours in a day. But in all reality, you can write a good 400 word blog post in 20 minutes. Well, I can. But, I've been doing this for a while. Practice makes better and faster. So, instead of watching that extra TV show each night, write something. You'll even feel better for doing it.
  3. I'm not smart enough. Really? This doesn't even deserve an answer, but here I go anyway: can you breath on your own? Can you type? Perform basic computer functions? I'm done. If you can't form a basic sentence, click on the link above to learn how. You can do this! You should do this!
  4. I don't have any original ideas. Okay, sure. I get it. You want to be original, the real deal. But guess what? There is nothing new under the sun. I didn't come up with all this stuff on my own. I learned it from others. I have years of copywriting experience under my belt from actual marketing companies who have taught me. Furthermore, I take classes each week about content marketing. It is always changing, so I am always learning.
  5. I'm afraid it won't be good enough. Listen, it probably won't be good enough. Ever. Not in your eyes, anyway. But you know what? People are looking for what you're offering. And the only way they are going to find you, is if you let them.
There you have it, Hellertown/Lower Saucon. Your 5 excuses to not start a blog, and why you should anyway.
