Viewfinder: Nightlife at Yianni's Taverna Sparkles

Greek Night at the popular Lower Saucon restaurant offers wonderful food, music and fun for guests.

Many longtime residents fondly remember Gus's Crossroads. That restaurant--located at Seidersville Road and Old Philadelphia Pike in Lower Saucon Township--was run by Greek-American restaurateurs Gus Zannakis and his wife Eleni for many years. During the "Gus's era," daughter Maria and son Yianni (John) grew up immersed in the family business, which later inspired them to .

Since Gus's became Yianni's, the restaurant has focused on serving in a casual setting reminiscent of the Mediterranean region. And last month, Yianni's Taverna was rewarded for its transformative efforts with the Morning Call's 2011 Readers' Choice Award for "Best Greek Restaurant" in the Lehigh Valley.

In addition to its delicious menu, Yianni's is known for being a fun night spot, with its Euro Lounge becoming a popular gathering place for local residents to meet and enjoy each other's company.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Euro Lounge hosted Hellenic Express DJ Entertainment, which provided music as part of Yianni's semi-regular "Greek Night." DJ Emilios Gaitanidis spun both Greek and modern music, tapping along with a tamborine while guests danced.

This Saturday the restaurant will host a Frank Sinatra impressionist, crooning the classic and timeless hits of Ol' Blue Eyes. Head in early for some wonderful food and enjoy the show!
