Sands Casino Has State's Most Popular Table Games

The has been the most popular destination for table games among Pennsylvania casinos in the past year, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

The Sands took in $127.8 million in gross revenue from its 152 tables from July 2011 through the end of June--nearly $11 million more than the Parx Casino in Bensalem, Bucks County, which, with 182 tables, has the most in the state.

Table games revenue at the Sands increased by more than $54 million--or 47 percent--over the $73.1 million in table games revenue in the previous fiscal year, according to figures released earlier this month by the state Gaming Control Board.

In June alone, the Sands took in $12.7 million in table games revenue--nearly $4 million more than Parx and a 48 percent increase over what the Bethlehem casino grossed during June 2011.

The Gaming Control Board reported that the Commonwealth’s 11 casinos took in $663.9 million in gross revenue during fiscal year 2011-2012.

Pennsylvania took $107 million of that revenue in tax, as it taxes table games gross revenue at 14 percent.

Total table games revenue increased 30.8 percent over the $507.7 million in revenue taken in the previous year. And combined with nearly $2.5 billion in slots machine revenue, Pennsylvania casinos grossed $3.14 billion during the fiscal year, the gaming board reported.

Pennsylvania collected $1.45 billion in tax revenue from state-licensed casinos during the fiscal year.
