Massive Walmart Distro Center to Open Near Rt. 412

A one million square-foot Walmart distribution center that's expected to employ 350 people will open on Commerce Center Boulevard in Bethlehem, near Rt. 412 and I-78.

A one million square-foot Walmart distribution center that's expected to employ 350 people will open on former Bethlehem Steel land along Commerce Center Boulevard in Bethlehem, near Rt. 412 and I-78, according to an article published by the Express-Times.

The salvaged brownfields land on which the facility will open is close to Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township, as well as an intermodal rail facility and other warehouses located within city limits.

Crayola announced in the spring its plans to open an 800,000 square-foot warehouse on Commerce Center Boulevard in the Majestic Bethlehem Center, a 442-acre business park near the site of the proposed Walmart distribution center.

Route 412, which intersects with Commerce Center Boulevard just north of the I-78 interchange, is currently undergoing a $36 million, three-year widening project to help accommodate increased traffic volume in the area.
