Members of a swap are from a local/regional community and bring items that they’ve made or grown themselves and swap them for items others have brought. There are no dues or fees, but donations are welcome to offset expenses such as printing flyers, space rental and incidentals. An RSVP is required using http://ubcfoodswap.eventbrite.com/ and limited to only 36.

Participants fill out a form with the name of their item, what’s in it and how to utilize it in a recipe, or out of the jar/package. Then folks wander around and see what others have to offer and sign up what you’re willing to swap for what you’d like to get from someone else. There is nothing written in stone and negotiations are encouraged and part of the fun.
