POSTPONED: First Night Hellertown

Hellertown's inaugural First Night celebration will be held on Dec. 31, 2011. An event that will showcase performances and exhibits at various venues throughout the Hellertown area, First Night is expected to draw as many as 2,000 people for an alcohol-free evening of family fun.

The celebration will be held from 6pm to midnight, with each venue--including churches of various faiths and other community locations--offering a variety of music, food and entertainment.

"First Night is a very special event that brings families and friends together to celebrate the New Year," said Earl Hill, president of the nonprofit Hellertown Historical Society, which is promoting the event. "We have received positive feedback from community leaders, local businesses and the local faith communities that First Night Hellertown could become a signature event for the area."
