Saucon Valley residents were forced to cope with the first significant snow of the season Tuesday, when a fast-moving storm dumped several inches of the white stuff on the area.

Schools were closed in the Saucon Valley School District, as were some businesses, and many scheduled events—such as a holiday concert at the high school—were postponed or canceled.

Most major roads such as routes 378 and 412 were passable by Tuesday afternoon, after PennDOT and local road crews had the opportunity to plow and treat them.

However, roads—particularly those that are less traveled—may remain icy in spots due to subfreezing temperatures that are predicted over the next few days.

Another round of wintry weather is possible throughout the area over the weekend, according to the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service.
