Readers Share Local Pothole Concerns

Tis the season for potholes in Pennsylvania, as dramatic temperature swings cause macadam to contract and expand, and road craters form that threaten both motorists and pedestrians.

Tis the season for potholes in Pennsylvania, as dramatic temperature swings cause macadam to contract and expand, and road craters form that threaten both motorists and pedestrians.

The Saucon Valley is no exception, and Patch readers recently reported several potholes when asked to identify their locations in a Facebook thread.

Kris Lock commented that potholes are peppering Route 412 south of Hellertown, and Rebecca Walser said "Apples Church Road [in Lower Saucon Township] is worse now than before they repaved it."

Other Saucon Valley roads that were identified in the thread were:

  • Saucon Valley Road near Saucon Valley Country Club
  • Old Philadelphia Pike
  • Seidersville Road
  • Durham Road (Williams Township)
  • Route 378
Potholes on state roads such as Route 378 and Route 412 can be reported to PennDOT by calling a special hotline: 1-800-FIX-ROAD ((1-800-349-7623), which State Sen. Lisa Boscola's office has recently helped to publicize.

Patch reader Sunny Sonnenrein also shared a link to a website that allows readers to report potholes and other problems in their neighborhoods—such as a clogged sewer line.

SeeClickFix is now being used by many municipalities to help track problems around town, Sonnenrein said, and Hellertown already has a page on the site, where residents can report issues once they sign up for an account.
