Look for Alex's Lemonade Stand Near Rail Trail

SVHS students who are members of the Future Business Leaders of America plan to set up a lemonade stand to benefit cancer research near the Saucon Rail Trail in Hellertown.

Some enterprising Saucon Valley High School students and Future Business Leaders of America recently received permission from Hellertown Borough Council to set up a weekend lemonade stand near the Saucon Rail Trail.

The stand will benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, which raises money for pediatric cancer research, the students explained.

The hope is to appeal to thirsty rail trail users, which is why the stand will be located close to the path, near the Walnut Street (Grist Mill) trailhead.

The students said they also want to bring the stand to the Saucon Valley Farmers' Market, however permission from the farmers' market committee is still needed in order to do that.

The farmers' market is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Water Street Park, Hellertown.

Council approved a plan whereby the lemonade stand—which the students said is being sponsored by Giant Food Store—will be set up along the rail trail at Walnut Street from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Instead of charging for lemonade, donations will be accepted on behalf of the cancer charity.
