Local Residents Enjoy a 'Spot of Tea' at St. George's

While the weather outside resembled that of Old London Town, with its rain and grey skies, inside in Hellertown guests were warmly treated to an "Elegant Afternoon Tea" on the afternoon of Sunday, May 15.

Tables covered in lace cloths were set with cups, saucers, floral plates and cutlery. 

This was the second year the church held its afternoon "High Tea," and as usual the effort put into hosting the event was astounding. In a room just off the tea room were table upon table covered in homemade goodies.

Tea sandwiches of egg, tuna and ham salad on fancy breads, as well as turkey and roast beef wraps, were showcased on one side of the room. On the other side, delicious desserts including everything from macaroons with chocolate on top to phyllo dough with lemon filling and a blueberry to brownies tempted tea guests. Each serving was set upon its own paper doiley or cupcake wrapper, which made for a very elegant display, indeed.

And because this was St. George's, of course all but the chocolate eclairs and cream puffs were homemade by the wonderful ladies of the congregation. 

As Margie George welcomed guests at the door, the host with the most, AnnaMarie, welcomed people to the event and helped direct them to table seating. Guests were quickly brought two trays: one of the sandwiches and another of the desserts. 

As the day wound down, the busy bees were able to sit down and enjoy the event themselves. They were also able to smile, knowing that yet again they not only brought the community together, but also successfully organized another deliciously successful event.
