Local Man Plans Mission of Mercy to Staten Island

Star Yardumian of Hellertown says her husband Randy plans to deliver emergency supplies to Staten Island, parts of which were devastated by Hurricane Sandy this week.

A Hellertown man is planning a trip to Staten Island, New York to deliver emergency supplies for families whose homes were damaged or destroyed when Hurricane Sandy hit the coast.

The record storm surge that inundated parts of the island resulted in a number of deaths, including that of a 28-year-old New York City police officer who drowned in the basement of his own home.

Randy Yardumian is planning to take items such as bottled water and baby supplies to the New York City borough on Saturday, his wife Star said.

Local residents interested in donating items to be taken to New York should contact Star Yardumian at Starann@rcn.com.

"If people would like to donate any items for children (and) babies and goods like canned food or water I'd be willing to pick them up in Hellertown," she said.
