Kingston Park Opens in Lower Saucon Township

Lower Saucon Township's newest park—Kingston Park—was opened with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony Saturday.

A new park in Lower Saucon Township officially opened with a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony Saturday.

Kingston Park is named after Ella Ringhoffer Kingston, who attended classes at the adjacent Lutz-Franklin one-room schoolhouse as a girl, from 1933 to 1940.

The schoolhouse is now a museum maintained by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society.

The land for the park was donated to the township by Kingston's son, Dr. Richard Kingston, who was on hand along with other family members for the dedication.

Dr. Kingston spoke about Ella's Garden--a rain garden in the center of the park he said his mother would have liked.

He praised the members of Girl Scout Troop 8505, who recently volunteered to help maintain Ella's Garden.

Township officials also spoke at the dedication, which was years in the making.

Kingston Park is located on Limpar Lane, just off Countryside Lane near Applebutter Road.

From Hellertown, it can be reached by taking Easton Road to Countryside Lane.

Parking and restrooms are available at the park, which is open from dawn to dusk.
