Dr. Susan Ackermann of Hellertown was recently elected to the Cornell Alumni Association Executive Board, according to an announcement posted on the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine website under November 2013 alumni news.

Ackermann is well-known in the borough for her Main Street feline veterinary practice, known as The Cat Doctor, and for her leadership of the Hellertown Enhancement Project, which has organized community events such as the Second Sunday summer concert series in Dimmick Park.

She "graduated with her quadruple majors from Muhlenberg College in 1981 and [earned] her veterinary degree from Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986," according to her biography posted on the website.

The biography—which also highlights Ackermann's community involvement and artistic endeavors—notes that she is co-owner and a member of the Board of Directors of Valley Central Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Whitehall.
