Dog Poop Bag Dispenser Damaged

The bag receptacle along the Saucon Rail Trail in Hellertown has since been repaired.

A dispenser that holds plastic bags used to pick up dog poop along the Saucon Rail Trail was recently damaged when a bicyclist apparently rode into it, Hellertown Public Works Director Tom Henshaw told Borough Council.

The dispenser that was damaged in the accident is located near the Walnut Street rail trail crossing, he said, adding that it's since been repaired.

"We backed them up with old stop signs," Henshaw explained.

Dog poop left where it was deposited prompted the installation of the dispensers and garbage cans along Hellertown's stretch of trail.
