Boy Scouts Still Arranging Christmas Tree Pickups for Jan. 18

The cost to have a tree picked up curbside is $5 ($4 for senior citizens), and proceeds will benefit scouts who plan to attend summer camp.

If you're a Hellertonian in need of an easy way to dispose of your Christmas tree, there's still time to enlist the help of local Boy Scouts, who will picking trees up by appointment on Saturday, Jan. 18.

In addition to borough locations, the members of Boy Scout Troop 416 will also pick up trees curbside in select parts of Lower Saucon Township.

"The boys and adult volunteers are meeting at 8 a.m. at the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church on Apples Church Road, just south of the Giant grocery store," organizer Colleen Kowalenko said in an email. "[They] will be splitting up into teams and heading out from there to canvas their areas and pick up the trees."

Borough and township residents with proper identification can also take their trees for disposal at the Saucon Valley Compost Center, 2011 Springtown Hill Road, Hellertown, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Jan. 25.
