Borough Hydrants to Be Flushed in Late April

The fire hydrant flushing by the Hellertown Borough Authority will take place April 22-25 and April 29-May 2, HBA administrator Glenn Higbie announces in the following letter.

The system-wide flushing of the Hellertown Borough Authority’s water system is scheduled to begin soon.

The authority will flush fire hydrants throughout the borough starting Monday, April 22 through Thursday, April 25, and the following week starting Monday, April 29 through May 2, between the hours of 9am and 3pm.

In general, the system will be flushed starting in the southern areas and move throughout the borough in a northerly direction to clear sediment from the water lines.

Customers should expect to experience some discoloration or cloudiness in their water as the system is flushed, but once the flushing is completed each day, the water will quickly clear. Customers should refrain from washing clothes or other laundry items during the work and minimize water usage to prevent sediment from being drawn into their facilities.

Customers whose phone numbers are on file with the authority will be contacted in advance by the automated phone notification system.
