Bites Nearby: Diana's Cafe

It's casual dining with fine dining selections at Diana's Cafe on Route 309 in Center Valley.

After waitressing and managing area fine dining restaurants, self-taught chef Diana Hall-Yurasits followed a dream. Taking note of market trends and the shift toward more casual dining, she took her passion for cooking and in 1998 opened Diana’s Café in Upper Saucon Township.

On a rainy Wednesday, I decided to stop in for breakfast after dropping my usual breakfast and lunch ‘date’ off at camp. The menu features everything from simple choices to elaborate creations for both the breakfast and lunch crowds.

The selections for breakfast range from the traditional eggs, pancakes and French toast to more creative listings such as the Breakfast Burrito, which was one of the specials the day I dined at Diana's. It also ended up being my choice. A toasted burrito encased a delicious mixture of eggs, cheddar cheese, avocado and tomatoes, along with a balsamic glaze that really set off the flavor.

Other notable breakfast selections included an asparagus and crab omelet, corned beef hash, eggs Florentine and a lighter side menu that included oatmeal, fresh fruit and a fresh fruit parfait. Considering the quality of the food I found the prices to be quite reasonable. For example, the asparagus and crab omelet was just $8.

Lunch includes their house specialty Café Crab Bisque, which is described as tender pieces of crab in a creamy infused broth. Various salads are also available, such as an Orange Salad ($9) that includes grilled marinated chicken with mandarin oranges, raisins and sunflower seeds served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side.

For those wanting a little more for lunch, the menu also includes burgers, various sandwiches and a list of heartier entrees. Whether you’re in the mood for quiche, crab cakes, salmon, lasagna, chicken and mushrooms, or one of their many specials, Diana’s Café has the ingredients prepare it fresh to order.

Lunch entrees range from $9 to $11, and there are three soups available each day, with prices starting at $2.75.

Two dining areas are available that could easily seat up to 50 people, and high chairs are available for the younger crowd. I was seated in the front room which has booths and a view of Route 309. I found it a nice place to relax and enjoyed looking at a beautiful mural on the wall.

During my visit there were a few guests enjoying their meals along with a friendly server who seemed to know everyone. I always love places that attract regulars. I was treated to flavored coffee and my cup was always kept full. My meal was served fast and tiramisu for dessert was a welcome ending.

Diana’s Café also offers catering for both corporate and private functions.

Diana’s Café is located at 4907 Route 309 in Center Valley. There is ample parking in a lot next to the restaurant.
