Bites Nearby: Brew Works on the Green

Established in 2009 by the Fegley family, Brew Works on the Green is a full-service restaurant and bar with a beautiful view of the Allentown Municipal Golf Course greens.

Tucked away at the Allentown Municipal Golf Course is a family dining experience that not many seem to know about: Brew Works on the Green

Two seating areas are available: by the bar or in the back room at a table. Tables in the back can be pushed together for larger parties, and no matter where you sit there’s always at least one television in view, with the local game or other sports broadcast.

The Brew Works on the Green's menu features a tempting selection of appetizers including my favorite, Bavarian Pretzels. Soft Bavarian pretzels are tossed with butter, garlic, parsley and grated parmesan cheese, and served with a small side of Beer & Cheese Soup for dipping.

Visit Brew Works on the Green on a Thursday and take advantage of their Buy One, Get One Appetizer special. Try a few different items or get two orders of the pretzels so you don’t have to share. Other items on the appetizer menu include BREWschetta, Nana’s Pierogies and their new Jumbo All-Natural Wings, which can be ordered with six different choices of sauce: mild, hot, “blast furnace,” teriyaki glaze, Pawn Shop Porter BBQ or Thai chili garlic.

Another favorite menu item mentioned previously is the Beer & Cheese Soup. Extra sharp cheddar cheese and the Brew Works' own Valley Golden Ale are blended and simmered to creamy perfection.

In addition to soups, lunch and dinner selections include salads, signature sandwiches and burgers, giving most people enough choices to choose from. On a recent visit a Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Barbecue special was featured.

The Brew Works on the Green also offers a breakfast menu, and if you bring the kids they may be interested in the Cap'n Crunchers: homemade french toast encrusted with Cap'n Crunch cereal and topped with whipped cream, powdered sugar, seasonal garnish and a choice of raspberry, chocolate or caramel drizzle.

Of course with this being a Brew Works restaurant--and a sister establishment to both the Bethlehem and Allentown Brew Works--brews are an important part of the dining experience. Currently on tap are a blond ale called Knuckleball, Bushey’s, American Pale Ale, Pawn Shop Porter, English Style brown porter with a hint of chocolate, and many other specialty beers. If you can’t decide, the restaurant does offer samples.

Whether you choose to go with family or meet up with friends after work for happy hour. the Brew Works on the Green is a great spot to relax with food and beverages. The restaurant even offers Wi-Fi.

Brew Works on the Green is located at 3400 West Tilghman Street in Allentown.

During off-season it is open Sunday through Thursday from 9am to 11pm, with food served until 10pm. Friday and Saturday is is open from 9am to midnight, with food served until 11pm.
