Authority Park Fountain Project Nearing Completion

Volunteer and Borough Authority Park fountain restoration project organizer Joe Delfoe provided Hellertown Borough Council with an update.

Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, the Borough Authority Park fountain restoration project in Hellertown is already nearing completion, organizer Joe Delfoe told Borough Council recently.

Delfoe informed council that water has been bubbling through the stone "wedding cake"-style fountain for about a week.

The eco-friendly fountain will bubble on a permanent basis, rather than spray a jet of water into the air, as the Detwiller Plaza fountain on Main Street does, Delfoe said.

A drinking fountain is also going to be installed, along with a new concrete plaza, shrubbery and lighting, he said.

Delfoe estimated that the entire project will be completed in "four to five weeks."

"I think the fountain looks wonderful," council president Phil Weber enthused, following Delfoe's update.

Borough Authority Park is located between New York Avenue, Rentzheimer Drive and Durham Street, adjacent to the Hellertown Community Pool.

The park's fiftieth anniversary will be observed in 2015.
