Apple Festival at One-Room Schoolhouse is a Hit [Photos]

Lovers of the almighty apple flocked to the Lutz-Franklin one-room schoolhouse in Lower Saucon Township Saturday to enjoy a festival devoted to the beloved fruit.

The Lower Saucon Township Historical Society held its annual Apple Festival at the historic one-room Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse Saturday, and crowds flocked to enjoy both apple-themed treats and activities.

Highlights of the festival included face-painting, birdhouse-building, desserts, raffles, live music, stories told by Hellertown Area Library staff, a visit from Johnny Appleseed and tours of the schoolhouse. An American beech tree was also dedicated in honor of John and Karen Samuels, township residents and society volunteers who have been instrumental in the schoolhouse's preservation.
