What is the Law of Attraction?

A few years ago I was given the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne as a gift. Little did I know that this book would change my life. The book talked about the law of attraction which is something I had never heard of. The law of attraction states that 'like attracts like' meaning that whether it be positive or negative thoughts or actions, we will attract whatever we are focusing on. If you are negative, you will attract negative people and situations. Same goes for positive.

I started looking back at my life and noticed a huge pattern. This pattern looked like a huge roller coaster. Then I took a look around my life at the time of reading the book. I could clearly see why I had the people in my life that I did and why I was in the situations that I was in. It was then that I started to test the law of attraction. If my thoughts were negative, I quickly turned them into positive. And if I couldn't do that I would focus on something I was grateful for. Focusing on the blessings in our lives really does change our mood to be positive. There is a gratitude journal which was also created by Rhonda Byrne. When I received this journal I wrote in it every night all that I was thankful for until my hand was ready to fall off or I was ready to close my eyes for the night. What started happening was amazing.

Negative (or drama centered) people seemed to either be too busy for me or I was too busy for them. The Universe was distancing me from them. Positive, like-minded people started coming into my life. I noticed I was sleeping better, feeling better, healthier, and happier. My life was completely transforming. I found enjoyment in the simple things. I started manifesting the job I wanted, the friends I wanted, the health I wanted, but most of all the peace I longed for. It IS amazing how when we focus on the negative it snowballs. And, it attracts illness in the body, negative people, drama, and negative situations. But it also works the other way. 

I admit that I read the book 5 times. There is even a movie you can watch on their website which I of course did. This was a whole new way of life for me. Now don't get me wrong, negative people still creep up now and then and so do negative situations. However, I view them differently. Part of me realizes that negative people are there to teach us how not to be. The other reason is that they could be mirroring a part of us that we do not see. The negative people and situations could also be a test for us to see if we are really living in gratitude. How we react to situations and people is what makes the difference. If we make it positive, which in some cases can mean keeping our mouth shut, we will have a much more positive outcome.

I choose not to focus on the negativity in the world. A prime example is how much I hear people complain about the gas prices going up. Honestly, I don't even notice. I go to the gas station, put the same amount of money in my Jeep each time and think about how grateful I am that I can pay for my gas and have a vehicle that gets me to where I need to be. Griping about the gas is not going to make the price go down nor is it going to make anyone feel good. So why do it? Why complain about anything? I want to project positivity out there. If there is a situation that I feel is negative, I send it love and light. With the law of attraction I know that what we give, is what we get. And it is so true. 

Because controlling our thoughts can be very trying I have started waking up every morning saying, "I am so thankful now that my ego is silent." Why? Because our ego is that little voice that likes to be negative. When it is silent, I can hear my Higher Self which only speaks out of love and compassion. Every night I meditate. And I do this because I have found it is the most effective way to learn to how control our thoughts. Meditation has been a life changer for me as well. It keeps me focused, balanced, and more positive. 

Whether you like to read or not, I would seriously consider reading The Secret. Although there are those who state, "I am not living my life by one book," I have seen so many people's lives change because of it. And those who state things like that just aren't ready to stop throwing plates and gossiping to want to change anyway. They are stuck in a negative mind-set and are comfortable being there. Just pray for them and send them love and light. I personally don't like seeing people unhappy or manifesting negative situations. But I also realize people will come out of that on their own time. And, if they don't, I don't need to be a part of their lives. 

Watch your thoughts my friends. Because the law is always working. What kind of life do you want to manifest? You get to choose; negative or positive. It's your life.
