The Penn State Master Gardener program in Lehigh and Northampton counties will be training a new class of volunteers this fall. The new training program will begin the week of Aug. 23, and continue on subsequent Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5:30pm through mid-December. Classes will be split between the Lehigh and Northampton County Cooperative Extension offices in Dorneyville and outside Nazareth.
An information session will be held Monday, May 20 from 6 to 9pm at Seidersville Hall in the Lower Saucon Township Municipal Complex. During this meeting we will give an overview of Penn State Extension and the Master Gardener program. This location houses the administrative offices (finance, public works, planning, zoning, code enforcement) for Lower Saucon Township. Lower Saucon Township and its neighbor, the Borough of Hellertown, share a school district and a cooperative relationship because of their geographical proximity. Primarily a residential community, the township currently has almost 10,000 residents and a geographical area of 23.3 miles.
