You are cordially invited to attend our 20th Annual Holiday Gathering Open House and Meet the Artist’s Reception on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 from 7 to 9pm (snow date: Dec. 4) at the Michael Heller Homestead.

Featuring paintings by David Lee, the exhibit runs Sept. 8 through Dec. 16, 2012 and is open Saturdays & Sundays, 1 to 4pm.

Opening remarks during the reception will be at 7:30pm.

There will also be a Silent Auction and book-signing of Saucon Secrets, Volume II by Lee Weidner.

Saucon Valley Girl Scouts dressed in vintage clothing will take visitors on a “Journey through Time ~ Room by Room” at the historic Heller Homestead. Rooms with period furnishings will offer guests a chance to experience the past as they step back in time to see treasures from a bygone era. The Widow’s House has three rooms to view representing the 1850s through the 1900s and features a beehive oven in the kitchen. The Heller House offers a 1950s Kitchen, a 1930s Living Room, a 1900s Bedroom, and a 1880s Victorian Parlor.

Decorated Christmas trees will be on display reflecting the progression of ornamentation available to German families throughout the years.

The historic Heller Homestead is located just off the Saucon Rail Trail at 1890-92 Friedensville Road (Water Street), Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, approximately one half mile west of Route 412 and Water Street in Hellertown. Turn west on Water Street, which becomes Friedensville Road in Lower Saucon Township. Go across the bridge. The Homestead is on the left adjacent to the Saucon Creek and opposite Creek Road.

Parking is available on site and at the nearby Water Street Park.

The Heller Homestead is a historic site which was home to the Heller family and is presently under the stewardship of the Saucon Valley Conservancy, which is headquartered there. The Saucon Valley Conservancy a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historical and natural environment in the area. The homestead features period-furnished rooms and houses an art gallery featuring rotating exhibits by local artists, as well as a gift shop that accepts consignments and donations. In 2010, the homestead was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
