Hellertown Police say a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Spruce Street is under investigation. In a news release police said an unknown vehicle drove onto properties and into a stop sign at Spruce and New streets, causing damage. Police said the accident occurred at around 10 a.m. May 17. Hellertown Police are investigating a forced entry incident in the 1400 block of Washington Street, according to a news release from the department. According to police, a damaged door was discovered on the south side of a property at about 5 p.m. May 21. A Freightliner truck that crashed into a guide rail and bridge on Ringhoffer Road was too heavy to be traveling on the road, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release. According to police, the May 17 accident closed the intersection of Easton and Ringhoffer roads for about two-and-a-half hours, and was caused when the driver of the truck "took the wrong route" and couldn't make the turn from Ringhoffer onto Easton, breaking an axle when he crashed. Hellertown Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the person or persons responsible for the keying of a car in the 200 block of Willow Road. In a news release, police said the car's owner reported that on the night of April 27 his beige Mercury "was scratched/keyed all down the passenger side." Lower Saucon Township Police say a 15-year-old boy will be referred to the Northampton County Juvenile Court system after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found in his room. In a news release, police said the boy's mother contacted them after finding the items May 17 in her home in the 1800 block of Overlook Drive. The boy faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
A Bethlehem woman has been charged with DUI, after Lower Saucon Township Police say she drove off Flint Hill Road, flattening a tire and disabling her vehicle in the process. In a news release, police said Eneida Resto, of the 1300 block of Fairmount Street, was found to be intoxicated when officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Flint Hill at 6:19 a.m. May 12. Police said Resto had also "urinated in the street." Resto refused a blood test at St. Luke's University Hospital, according to authorities. A Wilson man who allegedly made obscene phone calls to several borough women targeted at random has been charged with harassment by communication and disorderly conduct, Hellertown Police announced in a press release. Police said an investigation revealed that Timothy Louis Stepp, 47, of the 600 block of South 22nd Street, made the phone calls during the early morning hours of April 1 and April 2. According police, phone records from one of the victims were used to tie Stepp to the calls, which he allegedly admitted to making. Police said Stepp told them he made the calls while he was under …
Lower Saucon Township Police issued a reminder to local residents in a news release about a recent citation for trespassing: stay off railroad property. In the release, police said a boy was cited for trespassing the evening of May 7, after he was allegedly observed picking up railroad bolts and spikes from along the train tracks in the 2000 block of Riverside Drive. That is in the Steel City section of the township. The tracks are Norfolk Southern property, and the metal pieces were returned to the Norfolk Southern Corporation, police said.
Two borough men who allegedly fought in an alley behind the 1500 block of Main Street were cited for disorderly conduct, Hellertown Police said in a news release. According to police, officers were called to Morris Alley for a report of a fight at about 6 p.m. May 9. At the scene, police said it was determined that Joseph D. Gerstenberg, 46, of the 1500 block of Main Street, and Jason Joseph Britland, 37, of the 1500 block of Burkhardt Street, Hellertown, had fought because of a "dispute involving the children of both men."
Lower Saucon Township Police say they are investigating a case of criminal mischief involving the cutting of tree limbs near Saucon Valley Elementary School. In a news release, police said the lower limbs of four trees along the sidewalk near the elementary school playground were cut off sometime between 5 and 8 p.m. May 15. The limbs "were clean cut with a pruning tool and left on the sidewalk," police said. The pruning was unauthorized by the school district, authorities confirmed. Hellertown Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the person or persons responsible for damage to a car window. Police said the car that was damaged was parked in the 700 block of Magnolia Road on the afternoon of May 12, when the damage was discovered shortly before 5 p.m. The incident is being investigated as a case of criminal mischief, according to police. A Bethlehem Township man was cited for a violation of the Lower Saucon Township dog confinement law, after police say his dog bit a bicyclist in the 2200 block of Wassergass Road. According to a police news release, the dog owned by Stephen Kiefer, of the 1800 block of Third Street, walked into the roadway and bit a township woman in the calf. The bite to the bicyclist caused "minor puncture wounds and swelling of the skin," police said, adding that the woman was treated by EMS personnel. The alleged incident occurred May 10 at about 5:30 p.m.
A 17-year-old boy from Bethlehem has been cited for disorderly conduct, after Lower Saucon Township Police say he used Facebook to threaten a 15-year-old girl from Steel City and her mother. Police said the girl and her mother also reported that the boy used obscene language. The alleged incident occurred May 7, according to police.
A Lower Saucon Township woman has been charged with assaulting a garbage man, according to township police, who also said that she attempted to humiliate the man. In a news release, police said Sarah Hart, of the 3500 block of North Drive, struck the man hard enough to break off a piece of one of his molars. The alleged incident occurred after the garbage truck the man was riding in initially passed Hart's residence, police said. A Lower Saucon Township man has been charged with public drunkenness, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, after borough police say he was in possession of those items while intoxicated on the Saucon Rail Trail. In a news release, police said Randy Bond, 44, of the 3200 block of Bingen Road, was stopped by an officer on foot patrol on May 6 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Police said Bond was stopped on the trail in between Water and Walnut streets for alleged public drunkenness. A Lower Saucon Township woman was arrested for DUI, after police said she mistook a private driveway in the 4300 block of Lower Saucon Road for the turnoff to Buttermilk Road and drove "straight into the yard." In a news release, township police said Brenda Anema, of the 4100 block of Countryside Lane, was first observed driving "all over the road" by an officer on patrol near the I-78 overpass on Applebutter Road. The driver of a 15-passenger van became distracted when a bottle of water spilled and he lost control of his vehicle, striking a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle parked in the 500 block of Rentzheimer Drive, Hellertown Police announced in a press release. According to police, Pedro Hernandez, 75, of Hellertown, was driving the van when the accident occurred at 9:18 a.m. May 5. Police said the impact from the collision caused the VW to coast approximately 325 feet down the street, where it came to rest in the front yard of a home. A Hellertown woman has been charged with harassment, after Lower Saucon Township Police say she texted several "bothering/annoying" messages to a township man ealier this month. In a news release police said Theresa Patterson, of the first block of Silver Place, "was warned in the past about these acts and (told) to stop." Police said Patterson also had been told she would be charged if she continued to send the texts.
