Serial Mailbox Bashers Busted, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say two men who allegedly damaged 20 mailboxes between late December and early February have been charged with numerous counts of criminal mischief.

Two young men who allegedly damaged 20 Leithsville area mailboxes in several sprees between Dec. 27, 2012 and Feb. 9 of this year have been charged with 21 counts of criminal mischief and 20 counts of criminal conspiracy each, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release.

Police identified the men as Joseph John Michael Wilson, 24, of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road, Lower Saucon, and Jayson Brett Vierbuchen, 20, of the 1200 block of Bridgeton Hill Road, Upper Black Eddy.

Police said Wilson admitted to damaging the mailboxes and smashing a vehicle's rear window in an interview, in which he also allegedly implicated Vierbuchen.

"In addition, Wilson admitted to throwing a can and smashing a vehicle windshield" on Feb. 12, police said.

Authorities said Wilson also admitted to lying to police when he reported a broken window at his apartment Feb. 17.

"Wilson knew that Vierbuchen had smashed it," police said.

Wilson has also been charged with False Reports to Law Enforcement and Propulsion of Missile into Occupied Vehicle, according to police.
