Lower Saucon Township's search for a dog control officer and the recovery of marijuana and a scale at Saucon Valley High School also made headlines in the area this week.

 

Elderly Man's Pocket Picked at Gas Station, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township are seeking information about two men who allegedly stole a wallet from an elderly man's pocket. Police released store surveillance images of the two suspects, who approached the man after making a purchase inside the convenience store at the Rt. 378 Hess Express gas station Jan. 29.

Dog Control Officer Sought by Township

Lower Saucon Township announced that it's seeking qualified candidates for the position of Township Dog Control Officer. The position was discussed at council's Jan. 16 meeting.

Marijuana, Scale Recovered at SVHS, Police Say

A 17-year-old boy from Lower Saucon Township was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana/tobacco on school property, after township police say they were called to Saucon Valley High School the morning of Jan. 30 "for some items that the school wanted to turn over to police."

New Emergency Management Coordinator Appointed

Lower Saucon Township Council unanimously appointed Bryan Evans to be the township's new emergencymanagement coordinator at a meeting held Jan. 16.

Hit-and-Run Vehicle Sought in Front Street Incident

Hellertown Police said an elderly man was apparently behind the wheel of a vehicle that sideswiped a Pontiac Firebird that was parked in the 700 block of Front Street on Jan. 29.

Interpretive Signs Installed at Hellertown Marsh

A series of five signs interpreting the Hellertown Marsh have been installed along the Saucon Rail Trail between Walnut and Water streets in Hellertown.
