Saucon Meadow Court Blaze 'Not Suspicious,' Fire Chief Says
Se-Wy-Co Fire Chief Thomas Barndt says the Feb. 10 fire remains under investigation.
The fire that badly damaged a Lower Saucon Township home Friday is under investigation but "not suspicious," Se-Wy-Co Fire Co. chief Thomas Barndt said in a press release last night.
The home at 1477 Saucon Meadow Court, which belongs to Richard and Colleen Baker, burst into flames late Friday morning and elicited a three-county response from volunteers.
Barndt said firefighters from companies in Northampton, Lehigh and Bucks counties arrived to battle the three-alarm blaze after Lower Saucon Township police discovered and reported that the house was "fully involved" with fire.
He added that Dewey Ambulance in Hellertown also sent two units to the scene, and said the fire was brought under control within an hour.
In a separate press release, township police said that upon their arrival at the fire it was determined that "all people were out of the home."
However, the family's dog was seen on the back porch of the home and had to be rescued, they added.
A cat also survived, Barndt said, and the only reported injuries were minor.
"One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor shoulder injury and another for a minor laceration to the hand," he noted.
The American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley responded to the home Friday afternoon and provided assistance to the residents, the organization announced.

Just watched the video. All I can say is WOW. Having never seen a fire being handled, I think it would be very interesting to hear someone speak about what they do and why. I was curious about the breaking of windows from the outside and also about what the firemen on the lower roof were doing and why. God bless them, they are very brave men and women.
