Recipe Files: White Chocolate Birds' Nests

With spring having arrived and plenty of April showers keeping everyone inside, have some fun in the kitchen by making this family-friendly and tasty treat.

Planning an Easter-themed party or egg hunt? Try making these sweet and crunchy treats for your guests!

You'll need only three ingredients:

  • 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips
  • 10 oz chow mein noodles
  • Jellybeans for the finishing touch

1. Place a sheet of waxed paper on your workspace where the nests can cool and the chocolate harden.

2. Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler (in my case a bowl placed over a large pot of  water on med/high heat). Use a spatula to stir them every now and again until all are melted.

3. Add the chow mein noodles and mix throughly.

4. Drop spoonfuls of the noodle/chocolate mixture onto the wax paper, slightly shaping them into nests.

5. Sprinkle a few jellybean 'eggs' on top of each 'nest.'

6. Allow the nests to cool and harden for an hour or so before enjoying.

You can also use milk or dark chocolate chips as well as butterscotch chips, depending upon your family's personal preference. They're the perfect springtime treat!
