Question of the Week: What's Your Favorite Type of Music?

Saucon Valley resident Kim LaBrake tells us about her love of music.

Hellertown-Lower Saucon Patch is interested in what's happening in our community, and what local residents' opinions are. That's why we plan to run a semi-regular "Question of the Week" in which we ask a question--and a local resident answers it!

This week we caught up with Kim LaBrake of Lower Saucon Township. In addition to being an architect, LaBrake is involved in her community and chairs the Saucon Valley Library Task Force.

She's also a music lover, so we asked her, "What is your favorite kind of music...and why?"

“My favorite kind of music is actually alternative, which all my friends think I’m totally nuts because they’re still stuck in the '70s and '80s. I love alternative music because you kind of keep up with what’s going on. It’s kind of fun to hear a new band and then tell my 24-year-old, “You’ve gotta listen to this band!” I listen to a lot of alternative stations. My husband (Saucon Valley Bikes owner Steve LaBrake) is a guitar player and sort of a singer-songwriter, so I’m drawn to that.

"Right now I like Rubblebucket out of upstate New York. It’s got a lot of saxophones and interesting things like that. You can’t give up Foster the People, and one of the throwbacks is the Talking Heads who were way ahead of their time. I still consider that alternative even though it’s way back.”
