I don't have kids in school, nor do I have grandchildren. However, I don't think I would want armed guards in schools. If this is the only way, then let them be outside each locked entryway. I think small children would be frightened. If this were enacted I think I would have to consider home schooling, if I were a parent. Maybe parents who feel this way can ban together and start a homeschool group. I don't know what the answers is to the threat of violence, but I don't think it is armed guards in the buildings.

I have kids in school, and my child, after what happened at Newtown, wold be comforted, not afraid, to see a good guy with a gun at their school rather than a bad guy. As for this poll, it says it is non-scientific, and it certainly is--you have to be a Patch member to respond, so I hope the school district does not take this information too seriously in making their decision.
