Police: Men Who Claimed to Be Roofers Stole Cash, Jewelry

Lower Saucon Township Police are investigating the distraction-style burglary, which they say occurred Dec. 6 in the 2100 block of Wassergass Road.

Lower Saucon Township Police announced Monday that they are investigating a theft allegedly perpetrated by two men who claimed to be roofers Dec. 6.

In a press release, police said the men--one white and one Hispanic--entered a home in the 2100 block of Wassergass Road at about 3:30pm.

"While one (man) distracted the occupants, the second male entered a bedroom and took cash and jewelry," police said.

The men were last seen in a white vehicle of an unknown type, authorities added.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Township Police Department at 610-317-6110.

In the past, police and experts have warned residents to be wary if called upon by unsolicited repairmen.

The tactic of posing as roofers or other types of service providers is sometimes employed by thieves seeking access to homes--particularly those of the elderly.
