Police: Man Left Chipper in Road, Causing Accident
Lower Saucon Township Police say the accident occurred on Surrey Road Nov. 30.
A Carbon County man caused a one-vehicle accident when he parked a wood chipper on westbound Surrey Road Nov. 30, according to Lower Saucon Township Police.
In a press release, police said Robert Hahn, of the 3900 block of Forest Inn Road, Aquashicola, was responsible for leaving the wood chipper along the roadway, where it was struck by Buhay Luba, of Sunderland Drive, Lower Saucon Township, at about 5:34pm Nov. 30.
"Buhay, who was traveling westbound, did not see the wood chipper and collided with it," police said.
Buhay did not suffer any major injuries as a result of the crash, authorities added.
Hahn was charged "for not utilizing portable warning devices," police said.

I am a little confused about this. If this were a parked car and the driver did not see it, and smashed into it, who's fault would it be? At that hour of night one would expect a moving vehicle to have its headlights on, maybe even its high beams since this area does not have street lights etc. Sounds to me like the driver, probably used to driving on Sunderland, was not expecting to encounter anything parked along the road.
