Police: Drunk Driver Struck Pedestrian Crossing Signs

Hellertown Police say Robert J. Nelson, 26, of Lower Saucon Township, struck the signs while driving on Water Street July 23.

 

A man who was driving under the influence of alcohol was responsible for striking two pedestrian crossing signs near Hellertown's Water Street Park July 23, borough police said Monday in a press release.

Robert J. Nelson, 26, of the 1800 block of Mansfield Street, Lower Saucon Township, was arrested for DUI at 4:08am at Main and Water streets, not far from the area of the crash, police stated.

According to a police department press release, Nelson's blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be .17 percent following the accident.

At least the retard only hit a sign and not an actual pedestrian.

Gerry, I understand your sentiments, but please understand that your use of "retard" is right up there with using the "N-word." Besides, most people who are are "mentally challenged" show better judgement than Mr. Nelson.
