The following incidents were reported in the Borough of Hellertown during the October and November, 2010:
Oct. 19 – At approximately 12:04am, police stopped a vehicle in the 1400 block of Main Street for a traffic violation. Upon further investigation, police said they discovered a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the possession of Dennis Walter Erney, 27, of 703 Monroe St., Freemansburg. Erney was arrested by police for possession of a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Oct. 23 – Police stopped a vehicle in the 1700 block of Main Street for summary vehicle violations at approximately 2:18am. According to police, Matthew Arthur Chiu, 22, of 24 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, was driving the vehicle and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Police said Chiu was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Chiu was arrested and processed at the Bethlehem DUI Center, where a test determined his blood alcohol content to be .19 percent. Charges of DAI and possession of a small amount of marijuana will be filed, police said.
Oct. 24 – At 1:29am police stopped a vehicle operated by Cristina F. Potts, 28, of 238 W. Goepp St., Apt. 215, Bethlehem, for an alleged traffic violation at Whitaker and High streets. Upon further investigation, police arrested Potts for DUI.
Oct. 28 – Police were called to the 500 block of Rentzheimer Drive at approximately 12:36am in response to a motor vehicle accident. According to police, it was determined that a vehicle operated by Michael J. Hood, 25, of 1169 Beverly Hills Road, Coopersburg, had struck an unoccupied parked vehicle in an opposing parking lane on Rentzheimer Drive. As a result of the accident both vehicles were rendered inoperable, and Hood was subsequently determined to have been driving after imbibing, police said. A test determined Hood's blood alcohol content to be .11 percent and charges have been filed, police added.
Oct. 31 – At 7:56pm, police stopped a vehicle at Front and Water streets for alleged traffic violations. According to police, after further investigation Stephen Robert Miller, 41, of 2037 Alice Drive, Bethlehem, was arrested for DUI.
Nov. 3 – At 2:51am police stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Main Street for an alleged equipment violation. According to police, during the vehicle stop officers observed a pipe in plain view. The operator of the vehicle, Bradley Thomas Nelmes, 30, of 3639 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem, was subsequently taken into custody. After impounding the vehicle, police said they discovered a bag containing suspected marijuana, a scale and another pipe, in addition to $112 in cash. Nelmes was arraigned in front of District Justice Todd Strohe and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail. Charges against Nelmes include possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Nov. 13 – Police stopped a vehicle operated by a 17 year-old male for an alleged traffic violation in the 600 block of Main Street. Following an investigation, police say they found both the male juvenile and a passenger to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The passenger was identified by police as Raymond Alvarado, 18, of 613 Fiot Ave., Bethlehem. Both individuals were arrested and charges have been filed, police said.
