Police Allegedly Find Pot During Locker Search

A 17-year-old student was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana at Saucon Valley High School on Sept. 23, according to a Lower Saucon Police Department press release.

 

A 17-year-old female student from Hellertown was arrested and charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana following a drug search at Saucon Valley High School Sept. 23, Lower Saucon Township police reported in a press release issued Friday, Sept. 30.

According to police, at 8:30am on Sept. 23 police utilized their K-9 unit to conduct a drug search of lockers at the high school.

Charges against the student have been filed with Northampton County Juvenile Probation, police said.

No. The Juvenile who committed the crime is being punished already, no need to punish the rest of the student body. It's unfortunate that she made a poor decision but hopefully she will learn from this experience. My question is: was there any legal basis for the search to be conducted in the first place? when it comes to searches in school, where does a persons rights get thrown out the window? This juvenile still has rights and should lawyer up pretty fast. I hope the school continues to take precaution and stand their ground when it comes to zero tolerance on Drugs on school premises.

Ya, why should we teach them to be responsible for anything if everyone else is doing it then it must be ok?? I think "zero tolerance" says it all.
