Obituary: Joseph Stanislaus Mattos, 76, of Hellertown
Joseph Stanislaus Mattos died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011. He was employed in the Maintenance Department of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 37 years before retiring.
Joseph Stanislaus Mattos, 76, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Sherman) Mattos. Born in Upper Saucon Township on Nov. 14, 1935 to the late Antonio and Nellie (Poltarak) Mattos Sr., Joseph worked for the former Bethlehem Steel in the Maintenance Department for 37 years until retiring. Joseph was a member of the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 of the American Legion in Hellertown, the Hellertown Democratic Club and the 540 Democratic Club in Bethlehem. He served his country honorably during peacetime in the U.S. Army.
SURVIVORS
Children: William J. and his wife Karen, of Coaldale; Jacob and his wife Hannah, with whom he resided; and Angela, wife of Dale Norton of Bethlehem; siblings: Frank and his wife Sally, of Camp Hill; and Thomas of Colorado; eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers: Antonio Jr., Arthur, Charles, John and James.
SERVICE
