Man Stole Legion's U.S. Flag, Police Say

Baron L. Chase, 59, of Constitution Avenue, Hellertown, is charged with defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and insults to national or commonwealth flag, all of which are misdemeanors, according to borough police.

 

A borough man stole an American flag from Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 last month, borough police said Wednesday in a news release.

According to police, Baron L. Chase, 59, of the 400 block of Constitution Avenue, Hellertown, removed the flag from the flagpole outside the recently-reopened Legion post at 935 Main St.

Police said the flag—which was reported stolen Feb. 20—was later recovered.

Chase has been charged with misdemeanor defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and insults to national or commonwealth flag, police said.
