Man Stole Aluminum from Roth Avenue, Police Say

Hellertown Police say Luis R. Berrios-Rivera, 50, of Bethlehem, has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

 

A Bethlehem man has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property, after Hellertown Police say he stole 40 pounds of aluminum gutter and downspouting from a Roth Avenue residence on the morning of March 5.

In a news release, police said Luis R. Berrios-Rivera, 50, of the 1500 block of Livingston Street, admitted to stealing the metal after he was interviewed by authorities.

The total value of the aluminum Berrios-Rivera allegedly stole was $22, according to police, who said he is also charged with driving under suspension.

The irony of this is that he could probably have made as much money - even at a minimum wage job - in the same time it took him to remove and steal the gutter and downspout.
