Carbon County Man Charged With DUI
On April 21 at 11:57pm police say an officer observed a tan Chevrolet make a traffic violation on East University Avenue near Rt. 378. Police said in a press release that the driver of the vehicle was identified as Cody Sallada, of the 300 block of Deer Lane, Lehighton. Sallada was found to be under the influence of marijuana "and also had a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle," police said. Sallada has been charged with DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and summary traffic violations, they added.
Teen Cited for Allegedly Littering on Riverside Drive
On April 25 at 4:47am police say Hailey M. Kemmerer, 18, of the 3800 block of Beeline Drive, Lower Saucon Township, was found to have been littering at Riverside Drive and Saucon Avenue, which is in the Steel City section of the township. Kemmerer was cited for scattering rubbish, police said in a press release.
Man's Dog Was Found Running Loose on Kevin Drive, Police Say
On April 26 at 8:49am police say a dog owned by Michael Krzyzewski, of the 2000 block of Hilltop Road, was found running loose in the area of Kevin Drive. Krzyzewski was issued a citation for "Confinement of Dogs," which is a violation of the PA Dog Law, police said.
Golf Carts Allegedly Taken on 'Joy Ride' at Country Club
Police say that sometime after midnight on April 29 two golf carts were taken out of a maintenance shed at Silver Creek Country Club and taken on joy rides around the course. Both carts--valued at $2,500 each--were damaged, police said. The latch to the shed where the carts were stored was also broken, they added. Woman's Dog Ran Into Road, Caused Two-Vehicle Accident, Police Say
On April 27 at 6:41pm police say a German Shepherd owned by Tasha Kuntz, of the 2000 block of Riverside Drive, Lower Saucon Township, ran into the road in front of her residence. As a result of the dog running into the road a two-vehicle accident occurred, police said in a press release. Kuntz was cited for "Confinement of Dogs" under the PA Dog Law, they added.
Man Cited for Alleged Violation of Firearms Ordinance
On April 29 at 5:11pm police say Jarid Scott Solosky, of the 2500 block of Alpine Drive, was found to be discharging a firearm within 150 yards of an occupied structure and/or residence. Doing so is prohibited by a township ordinance, police said in a press release. Solosky will receive a citation, they added.
iPod Stolen From Middle School Girls Locker Room, Police Say
On the afternoon of April 27 police say a 12-year-old girl unlawfully removed an Apple iPod from a girls locker room at Saucon Valley Middle School. Police said in a press release that the iPod, which is valued at $200, was returned to its 13-year-old owner after it was recovered. The 12-year-old has been referred to the Northampton County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Accident on Springtown Hill Road
On May 1 at 2:16pm police say officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Springtown Hill Road for a report of a hit-and-run accident. "Upon arrival it was observed that a vehicle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and lost control...causing it to collide with...fencing and trees along the roadway," police said in a press release. The suspect vehicle appears to be a 1989 to 1994 tan Nissan 240 sx, they added. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department at 610-317-6110.
Police Seeking Owner of Cell Phone Found on Route 378
On May 1 at 6:35pm police say a cell phone was found along Route 378. Anyone who believes the phone to be theirs is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department with a description of it and/or serial number in order to make a claim.
'Habitual Offender' Caught Driving While Under Suspension, Police Say
On May 2 at 3:15am police say they observed Troy Heckman, 40, of the 1200 block of Seidersville Road, driving a vehicle. Police "knew from many previous...encounters that he did not have a valid operator's license," they said in a press release. According to the release, "police stopped (Heckman's) vehicle as he quickly attempted to back into a parking spot at his residence." Authorities said he has "at least 21 prior convictions" for Driving Under Suspension or Driving Without a License. For the latest alleged infraction, Heckman has been charged as a habitual offender both for Driving Under Suspension and Driving Under Suspension (DUI-Related), police said.
Police: Woman Rolled Car After Fish-Tailing on Springtown Hill Road
On May 2 at 3:20pm police say Jessica E. Lehr, of the 3300 block of Greenwood Drive, Lower Saucon Township, was northbound on Springtown Hill Road when her vehicle began to fish-tail on wet pavement. Police said in a press release that Lehr's vehicle ultimately struck a tree in the 2200 block of the road as she was negotiating a curve. The vehicle then rolled on its side, they said. Lehr, who was reported to have suffered only minor injuries, was cited for "Driving at Safe Speeds," police added.
Man Flipped Vehicle on Rt. 378, Police Say
On May 4 at 12:41pm police say Grant Michener, of the 1600 block of Orchard Road, Lower Saucon Township, was northbound on Rt. 378 near Walter Street when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a guide rail, flipped and hit a tree. The vehicle came to rest on the side of the road and Michener was transported to St. Luke's University Hospital by Dewey EMS, police said in a press release. Charges against Michener are pending, they added.
Man Charged With Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
On May 5 at 9:40pm police say they stopped Philip Anthony Petrecz Jr., of the 2900 block of Limeport Pike, Lower Milford Township, on Rt. 378 near Dr. Feelgoode's. Police said Petrecz was stopped for a faulty headlight, and that a glass smoking pipe was subsequently observed in his glove box. Petrecz was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Police Investigating Fiberglass Lion Theft
On May 5 police say someone stole a fiberglass lion from a home in the 2500 block of Easton Road. Its value is estimated at $150. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Lower Saucon Police Department at 610-317-6110.
