Police: Driver 'Appeared to Be Under the Influence of Marijuana'
On Feb. 24 at 8:09pm police say they stopped Thomas Savickis, 21, of the 4600 block of Pheasant Run Court, Bethlehem Township, for speeding on Redington Road. Police said in a press release that Savickis' vehicle "smelled like marijuana," and that he also "appeared to be under the influence of marijuana" at the time of the stop. According to authorities, Savickis told officers where to find marijuana in the vehicle, and it was seized. Savickis will receive a summons for possession, police said.
Woman Stopped on Main Street to be Charged with DUI, Police Say
On March 9 at 10:46pm police say Rebecca Susan Al-Shebil, of the 1800 block of Mansfield Street, Lower Saucon Township, was stopped at 659 Main St., Hellertown. Police said in a March 15 press release that Al-Shebil "was stopped for reported reckless driving." Al-Shebil failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Bethlehem DUI center for testing, police said. She will be charged with DUI, they added.
Man Arrested for DUI After Allegedly Driving at an 'Unusually Slow Speed'
On March 12 at approximately 1:36am police say they stopped Nalinkumar Patel, of the 1400 block of Cardinal Drive, Bensalem, Pa., on Leithsville Road near Meadows Road. Police said in a press release that Patel was stopped after his vehicle was observed swerving across a double yellow median line and traveling "at an unusually slow speed." Police said Patel was also observed pulling into the parking lot of a closed business. After stopping him, police said an officer detected "a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" and administered field sobriety tests, before arresting Patel for DUI and transporting him to the Bethlehem DUI Center for further processing.
Police Respond to Accident on Route 378 Near Hess Station
On March 14 at 8:30pm police say Kali Yext, of the 2800 block of Brentwood Drive, Upper Saucon Township, was northbound on Route 378 when she turned left into the parking lot of the Hess station at Black River Road and Route 378. Police said in a March 15 press release that Yext failed to yield to Robert Shurley, of the 1200 block of Allentown Road, Lansdale, who was southbound on Route 378. "Shurley hit Yext causing both cars substantial damage," police said. Yext will be cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic turning left, they added.
Man Arrested for Allegedly Possessing Marijuana, Paraphernalia Following Traffic Stop
On March 14 at 10:25pm police say they stopped Richard Walters III, of the 500 block of Hexenkoph Road, Williams Township, after he stopped instead of detouring around a disabled tractor-trailer at Lower Saucon and Redington roads. Police said that an officer was on the scene to detour the traffic, and when speaking with Walters was able to detect the odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. In a press release, police said that "when asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Mr. Walters became nervous and openly admitted to having a pipe used for smoking marijuana in the vehicle." He also admitted to having marijuana in his shirt pocket, police said, adding that several other smoking devices were subsequently found in the vehicle. Walters was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Dog Ran Loose on Jakes Place, Police Say
On March 17 at 12:02pm police say Shelley Redding, of the 1400 block of Jakes Place, Lower Saucon, was cited for Confinement of Dogs, after a neighbor complained about her dog running loose in the area.
